Where are the e-cargo bikes located?
Cargoroo bikes are only available in select locations as part of a public trial. The scheme is launching in Chorlton, Whalley Range and Ancoats, initially with 25 bikes.
The Cargoroo app shows you exactly where you can hire an e-cargo bike from and how many are available at any given time.
How much does a Cargoroo bike cost to hire?
The e-cargo bikes are available on a Pay As You Ride (PAYR) basis.
There is a one-off £1 registration fee to set up your account, and it then costs £3.50 per hour for use.
How old do you need to be to use an e-cargo bike?
To rent a Cargoroo cargo bike you need to be at least 18 years old. This is verified via software in the Cargoroo app. Valid forms of ID include:
A photo driving licence
A passport
A proof of age card, such as the PASS card from the national Proof of Age Standards Scheme. For more information on PASS cards, visit pass-scheme.org.uk
I've never used an e-cargo bike before. Is it for me?
Anyone who cycles regularly can usually also ride an e-cargo bike. In the beginning you might have to get used to the length of the bike, especially how it steers, but most people adapt in around five minutes.
We recommend trying the e-cargo bike first on a quiet road or park to familiarise yourself with riding it.

We offer free one-to-one training sessions for those who need a little more confidence using the bikes. Register your interest and one of our friendly trainers will get back in touch.
How safe are my children in an e-cargo bike?
The consensus is that transporting children in a cargo bike is safer than on a regular bicycle with child seats.
The e-cargo bike is equipped with three belts for children and a Maxi-Cosi holder for babies. The foam used for the container is the same as that which is used for helmets.

How far can I get on my Cargoroo bike?
A full battery will take you about 62 miles (100 kilometres).
