What we're doing
Updated March 2025
Here’s the latest on charging point projects on the ground and future plans
The projects on this page are fully funded through a range of government schemes.

Chargers everywhere
Greater Manchester has been awarded more than £16m funding to install many more low-powered, largely on-street public electric vehicle (EV) chargers across our city region.
It’s part of a national programme of government investment to make it even easier to charge your EV on the go.
TfGM is now working with the ten Greater Manchester local authorities to identify suitable locations for the new chargers.
We’ll keep local residents, businesses and communities updated as we work to make these improvements to electric travel across Greater Manchester.

Be.EV taxi membership scheme and exclusive taxi and PHV charging points
We've installed 60 new rapid charging points dedicated for EV private hire vehicle (PHV) and hackney vehicles as part of the Be.EV charging network.
To use them you’ll need to be a licensed taxi driver and register as a Be.EV taxi member.
Preferential rates are available for drivers licensed by one of the ten Greater Manchester local authorities.
The charging point locations were chosen following feedback from the local taxi trade.
To sign up to use them and see a map showing locations, visit the Be.EV website.
The Be.EV network
Greater Manchester's publicly owned charging points are included in the Be.EV network.
